Pomona gets lights

The Unserved Areas Electrification Programme (UAEP) was formally commissioned last Wednesday at Pomona Housing Scheme in Region Two (Pomeroon/ Supenaam).

And last Wednesday also in a similar ceremony at Sophia where the Region Four (Demerara/Mahaica) commissioning took place, Prime Minister Samuel Hinds flicked the switch to formally commission the US$28.2M Unserved Areas Electrification Programme (UAEP), scheduled for five years, which aims to bring light to some 30,000 homes across Guyana.

UAEP commissioned in Berbice– more than 30 communities accessing electricity

GINA-April 1st 2006Thousands of residents of Region Six (East Berbice/Corentyne) are pleased as government’s Unserved Areas Electrification Programme (UAEP), has officially been commissioned there.
At the Monument Square, Cumberland, East Canje Berbice, Information Liaison to the President, Robert Persaud yesterday symbolically switched on a light bulb, officially commissioning the programme.
