The Unserved Areas Electrification Programme (UAEP) was formally commissioned last Wednesday at Pomona Housing Scheme in Region Two (Pomeroon/ Supenaam).
And last Wednesday also in a similar ceremony at Sophia where the Region Four (Demerara/Mahaica) commissioning took place, Prime Minister Samuel Hinds flicked the switch to formally commission the US$28.2M Unserved Areas Electrification Programme (UAEP), scheduled for five years, which aims to bring light to some 30,000 homes across Guyana.

At the Monument Square, Cumberland, East Canje Berbice, Information Liaison to the President, Robert Persaud yesterday symbolically switched on a light bulb, officially commissioning the programme.
