GUYSUCO mulling ethanol plant

Stabroek News-May 14th 2006The Guyana Sugar Corporation is considering having an ethanol plant with a 130 million litres per year capacity but it does not propose utilising any of its present sugarcane production in the process as it aims to remain competitive in the sugar market.

Section of East Coast roadway to be brightened shortly

Streetlights along the main roadway within the parameters of Better Hope and Montrose, East Coast Demerara (ECD) would be powered shortly.

This is being done under a $241M project that aims to extend road lights along the ECD main roadway from Better Hope to Golden Grove, another initiative by government not only to ensure citizens comfort but also aid traffic safety and enhance security. Four hundred and twenty four lamps will be installed.

The project is being carried out by Cummings Electrical Company, which started the infrastructural works last month and is working towards its completion in June.
