The end of world supplies of oil will allow the development of renewable energy

Dear Editor,

Petroleum consumption has increased by 160% since 1965. Specialists are saying that the end is approaching because the world’s resources of the black gold are running out.    

The demand for energy around the world is going to increase by 60% from now to 2030, the major reason being the economic growth of China, India and Brazil. For 15 years, China has been responsible by itself for 30% of the increase of the petroleum world demand (industry development). The principal market actor, OPEC (Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries) cannot manage the market any more.

Local company should be given the job to erect new traffic lights

Dear Editor,

I am impressed by the work done by the local company which has put into operation traffic lights at the corner of Regent Street and Avenue of the Republic, Georgetown. This has brought some semblance of order at this particular intersection. This is also a good indication to us Guyanese that we still have a number of highly skilled citizens living here and at our disposal. My only hope is that our Government and Police Force would seize this opportunity to have this Company erect new traffic lights.
