Entrepreneurs stalled with traffic light proposal

A local group which has offered to reactivate non-functioning city traffic signals is still awaiting word from police authorities. 

The group had around two months ago delivered a presentation on their system to a police team headed by Commissioner of Police Winston Felix.

At that time, while expressing satisfaction with the display, Felix had requested and subsequently received additional information, a principal of the company told Stabroek News.

The additional information had to do with the group’s ability to run parallel with the signals, sensors to pinpoint motorists who speed past intersections and those who jump the lights.

A local company has entered detailed talks with the police on replacing traffic lights in the city which have been blank for many months now.

Stabroek News understands that the Police invited Guyana Electrical Consultants to make a presentation on the installation of new traffic signals at intersections.

The company had submitted a document several months ago outlining its proposals to Commander ‘A’ Division, Assistant Commis-sioner Paul Slowe but had not been told anything.
