My heart goes out to the bereaved relatives and friends of the late Petal Blair whose life was snuffed out at the corners of Regent and Camp Streets. This chilling episode is just a reminder of the lawlessness that is prevalent on our roadways. From all accounts speeding was the main reason for the accident which was compounded by the absence of the traffic light at the intersection. How many more must perish because of the lawlessness on our roads?

It is time for the authorities to act otherwise the situation will only become worse. It is unfortunate that Petal Blair had to pay with her life so the onus is left on us to ensure that her death brings an end to the lawlessness. It is time to install road signs and traffic signals and also to extend the full force of the law to all delinquent road users. Talk is cheap, now is time for action.
